Blanco Fence Installation: The Austin Owner’s Guide

Blanco fence installation in Austin typically runs between $3,500 and $9,000 for a full perimeter install, depending on linear footage, gate count, and whether we’re replacing rotted posts or starting from fresh layout. We stock what Blanco fences actually need in this climate and we can usually be on site within a few days of your call.

Call (903) 623-1966

Most Austin homeowners call us because a gate has started dragging, a post has gone soft at the base, or wind from a spring storm pulled a section loose. Blanco fences are built on specific post spacing and rail dimensions, and when one component fails, it usually takes the adjacent sections with it. You’re not imagining it if the whole line looks tired. Fences in Central Texas take a beating from limestone soil, drought-heave cycles, and the occasional freeze-thaw that splits untreated wood. We’ll walk you through exactly what’s failing and what it costs to make it right.

Which Blanco Models This Applies To

Blanco fence systems span several product lines, but the ones we see most often in Austin backyards are the Blanco Classic cedar privacy, the Blanco Estate aluminum, and the Blanco Horizon composite. Each has its own rail channel spec and post-to-panel fastener system, which matters when you’re matching replacement sections. The Classic line uses 1-1/8-inch thick pickets on 6-foot centers, while the Estate aluminum panels are pre-welded in 6-foot and 8-foot widths with a proprietary post bracket. The Horizon composite uses hidden fasteners that sit inside a grooved rail, so you can’t just drive a screw through the face without ruining the board.

Here’s the compatibility gotcha we run into constantly: a homeowner buys what looks like a Blanco panel from a big-box store, gets it home, and finds the rail spacing is off by half an inch. Blanco changed their rail dims on the Classic line in 2019, so pre-2019 fences need a 2-3/8-inch rail channel, and newer ones take a 2-5/8-inch. We keep both widths on the truck. For the Horizon composite, color matching is another thing to watch: Blanco’s “Weathered Cedar” from 2021 onward is a shade darker than the earlier run of the same name, and in direct Austin sun, mismatched panels show within a year. We order by lot number when we’re matching existing runs.

We’re an independent Austin installer, not a Blanco factory outlet, so we’ll tell you honestly when an OEM Blanco panel is worth the premium versus a quality aftermarket match. For structural posts and stringers, OEM is almost always the right call. For pickets and gate hardware, a good aftermarket part frequently outlasts the original, especially in our UV and soil conditions.

Signs Your Blanco Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Gate drags or won’t latch. This almost always comes down to a post that’s shifted out of plumb in the clay soil, especially after heavy rain followed by a dry week. The hinge side drops, and the latch side floats half an inch too high. You can re-shim the hinges for a temporary fix, but the post generally needs to be reset in a deeper concrete footing with better drainage rock at the base.
  • Pickets pulling loose at the bottom rail. Blanco’s cedar pickets are fastened with ring-shank nails, but in Austin’s humidity swings, the wood expands and contracts until those nails wallow out. Once you see three or four pickets loose in a row, the bottom rail usually has moisture damage starting. We replace the rail and re-fasten the whole run rather than chasing individual nails.
  • Post wobble at ground level. This is the classic Blanco failure in Central Texas. Posts set in concrete without a gravel base trap water against the wood, and the portion right at grade rots from the inside out. The post looks fine until you push on it, then it moves. We pull the old post, drill the old concrete, and reset with a gravel wick at the bottom so water drains away from the wood.
  • Rust staining under estate-line brackets. On the aluminum Estate line, the fasteners Blanco used on earlier runs were not fully coated for high-alkaline conditions. Austin’s limestone dust and hard water accelerate the corrosion, and you’ll see orange streaks running down from every bracket. The fix is replacing the fasteners with marine-grade stainless and re-sealing the post caps.
  • Composite panels bowing outward in the afternoon heat. The Horizon line expands more than Blanco’s original install specs accounted for, particularly on south-facing runs with no shade. Panels will bow visibly between posts in the high afternoon. We install expansion channels at each post and re-secure the hidden clips, which lets the material move without warping the sightline.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

An open kitchen and dining area after a remodel

For Blanco fence installation on a typical Austin lot, here’s what you’re looking at:

  • Full perimeter replacement (cedar, 150-200 linear feet, one gate): $3,500 to $6,500
  • Full perimeter replacement (aluminum Estate, 150-200 linear feet, two gates): $5,000 to $9,000
  • Single-side run replacement (40-60 linear feet, matched to existing Blanco line): $1,200 to $2,800
  • Post reset (per post, with new concrete and gravel base): $150 to $350 per post
  • Gate replacement including new hardware and post reinforcement: $400 to $1,100 per gate
  • Panel/rail repair on existing fence (matching pickets, rail swap, fastener upgrade): $300 to $800 per section

What drives the range is linear footage, the number of gates, whether the old posts can be saved, and access to the fence line. If we’re hauling material through a tight side yard or working behind a retaining wall, labor goes up. Every quote we write is a fixed price, delivered in writing before we start, and it includes haul-away of the old fence, concrete for posts, all fasteners and hardware, and a walk-through with you before we’re done. We warranty our Blanco fence installation work for 365 days from the completion date, and if anything goes wrong in that window, we come back and fix it at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

Some things on a Blanco fence you can absolutely check yourself: gate alignment, loose pickets, a latch that needs a little WD-40, and posts that have heaved an inch after a hard freeze. If you can see the problem and identify it, that saves us time on diagnostics when you call.

Here’s where DIY goes sideways. Reset a post without a proper gravel base, and you’ll be doing it again in three years. Swap a Blanco panel with the wrong rail width, and you’ll fight it for an afternoon and still end up with a visible seam. And pulling an embedded post in limestone is genuinely hard work with a concrete saw and a digging bar; it’s the fastest way we know for a homeowner to hurt their back or bust a sprinkler line. If the fence is structural, sagging, or involves a gate that people walk through daily, call us at (903) 623-1966 and we’ll tell you straight whether it’s worth a service call or whether you can handle it with a screwdriver and some patience.

Isaac Pruett grew up in Los Angeles and learned construction at LA Trade-Tech before years of residential work up and down the West Coast. He’s been taking care of Austin fences and remodels ever since, and his take on fence complaints is simple: “Tell me what’s wrong with it. We’ll figure out what it actually needs.”
