Atlas Fence Installation: The Austin Owner’s Guide
Atlas fence installation in Austin typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a complete vinyl fence on a standard residential lot, including materials, labor, and post-setting. We stock Atlas-compatible posts, rails, pickets, and gates on our trucks, so most repairs or section replacements happen in a single visit. You’ll usually discover a failed part the hard way: a wind gust takes down a panel, a post leans after a hard rain, or a gate starts dragging across the concrete. Sometimes it’s quieter than that: a hairline crack in a picket, a rail that’s pulled loose from a post, or a bottom rail that’s started to rot from sprinkler overspray.
Which Atlas Models This Applies To

Atlas manufactures vinyl, aluminum, and ornamental steel fence systems, and Austin homeowners most often call us about the vinyl lines: Atlas Premium Vinyl, Atlas Estate, and the Atlas Classic series. The compatibility gotcha we see regularly is rail profile. Atlas vinyl rails come in 1.5-inch and 2-inch profiles, and the pickets are routed to match. If you buy a 2-inch-rail picket for a 1.5-inch-rail fence, it won’t seat. Measure the rail before you order anything. Post dimensions matter too: Atlas 4×4 posts are actually 4 inches square, while their 5×5 posts measure 5 inches square and their 5×5 line-post caps only fit the 5×5 posts. We carry Atlas OEM parts when the fence is under 10 years old, and quality aftermarket equivalents for older Atlas fences where the original color has faded. An aftermarket picket on a sun-faded fence will look brighter than its neighbors. We match color on site, and sometimes the honest answer is replacing the whole section so the repair doesn’t look like a patch.
Mason Remodeling Co Austin is an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with Atlas, but we install and repair Atlas fence systems in Austin every week.

Signs Your Atlas Fence Installation Is Failing
- Leaning posts after rain. Austin’s clay soil expands when wet and contracts during dry spells. A post set in shallow concrete will heave and lean within a few seasons. The fix is pulling the post, setting it below the frost line, and packing with gravel before concrete.
- A gate that scrapes or won’t latch. The hinge post has usually shifted, or the gate frame has sagged. Atlas gate frames are reinforced aluminum on the vinyl lines. If the frame is bent, you replace the gate panel rather than shimming the hinges, which just transfers the stress elsewhere.
- Cracked pickets after a wind event. Vinyl gets brittle with age and UV exposure. A 10-year-old Atlas picket that took 60-mph gusts fine for years will suddenly crack. One or two cracked pickets is a repair. Cracks across ten or more means the vinyl has lost its flexibility and it’s time to plan a full section replacement.
- Bottom rails sagging between posts. This usually means the rail was cut too short, or the post spacing is wider than Atlas specs allow. Atlas vinyl rails are designed for 6-foot on-center post spacing. At 8 feet, the rail flexes, and Texas sun makes it worse.
- Discoloration that won’t wash off. Austin’s hard water and oak pollen leave a film that cleans off with a mild detergent. Brown or yellow staining that won’t budge is UV degradation, not dirt, and it’s the first warning that the vinyl is losing structural integrity.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
A full Atlas vinyl fence installation in Austin lands between $3,500 and $9,000. The spread comes down to linear footage, gate count, post depth, and whether we’re pulling old fence out first. A typical 150-foot backyard fence with one gate runs $5,000 to $7,000. A 60-foot side-yard section replacement runs $1,800 to $2,800. The price is written before we start, and it covers removal of the old fence, new Atlas-compatible posts set in concrete, rails, pickets, gate hardware, and cleanup. We don’t charge change orders for surprises we find after the first post comes out. Our work is covered by the written guarantee, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise applies: if something isn’t right within a year of completion, we make it right at no cost to you.
DIY or Call Us?
You can absolutely handle a single picket replacement if the post and rail are still sound. Pull the old picket, slide a new one in, and screw it to the rail from underneath. What goes wrong in Austin is when a homeowner tries to reset a leaning post. If you dig the old post out and set a new one at the wrong depth, you’ll be doing it again after the next wet season. Post depth is the single biggest variable in how long an Atlas fence stands up in our soil. If the post is just slightly out of plumb, you can sometimes straighten it with a post level and packed gravel. If it’s more than a few degrees off, the concrete footing has likely cracked, and that post needs a new hole. If you’re not sure which one you’re dealing with, call us at (903) 623-1966 and describe what you’re seeing. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a Saturday project or a truck-roll.
FAQs

An Atlas vinyl fence installed correctly in Austin will last 20 to 30 years. Posts set at proper depth and rails kept at spec spacing make the difference between 12 years and 25. Call (903) 623-1966 and we’ll assess your specific fence in person.
Vinyl pickets can’t be glued or patched in a way that holds up to Austin weather, so a cracked picket needs replacement. If it’s an isolated crack, we replace the single picket. If the vinyl has become brittle across sections, you’re further ahead replacing the whole section before the next wind storm. Estimates are free.
A typical section replacement with post reset takes one day. A full backyard replacement runs two to three days depending on gate count and old-fence removal. We’ll give you a written timeline with your written price.
