Mighty Buildings Driveway & Pavers: The Austin Owner’s Guide
If you have a Mighty Buildings unit in Austin and the driveway or paver sections are cracking, sinking, or separating, we can replace them. Typical installed replacement ranges from $7,000 to $18,000 depending on square footage and what’s underneath. Most owners notice the problem after a heavy rain, when a corner drops or a paver shifts and the base material washes out from underneath. This isn’t a cosmetic issue, and here’s what you need to know before anyone quotes you a number.
Which Mighty Buildings Models This Applies To

Mighty Buildings uses a small set of modular paver and driveway configurations across its residential units. The two most common in Austin are the standard 8-foot-wide driveway apron with 6×6 pavers and the wider 10-foot version used on corner lots. Before you call anyone, find the model plate on the inside of the unit’s electrical panel or utility closet door. The plate lists your module series, and that tells us the paver spec. If you can’t find it, take three measurements: the width of the driveway, the length from the curb to the structure, and the thickness of a single paver. Most Mighty Buildings pavers run 60mm thick, but a few early units used 50mm pavers, and the difference matters for replacement but not for a full rip-and-replace.
OEM vs. Aftermarket for Mighty Buildings
Mighty Buildings doesn’t sell direct to homeowners, so any “OEM” paver you find online is either old stock or mislabeled. What matters is spec-matched pavers, and we match by thickness, color code, and surface finish. Aftermarket pavers with the same compressive strength and dimensional tolerance perform just as well and usually cost 15 to 20 percent less than trying to source a discontinued Mighty Buildings paver through a broker. One compatibility gotcha: some Mighty Buildings driveways use a proprietary drainage channel along the edge. If yours has the channel, we need to preserve it or match it. Covering it with a standard paver edge causes water to pool under the pavers, and you’ll be redoing the job within two years.

Signs Your Mighty Buildings Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Sunken or tilted corner pavers near the driveway edge. This is almost always base erosion. Water gets under the edge, washes out the compacted base, and the pavers drop into the void. In Austin’s clay soil, the expansion and contraction during wet and dry cycles accelerates this.
- Hairline cracks running across multiple pavers. A crack across three or four pavers in a line means the subgrade has shifted or the original install didn’t include enough compacted base. Individual cracked pavers can be swapped, but a line of cracks needs the base addressed.
- Standing water that doesn’t drain after rain. This points to a slope failure or a clogged drainage channel. Water that sits for more than a few hours is working its way under the pavers, even if you can’t see movement yet.
- Weeds or mud pushing up through the joints. Joint sand has failed or wasn’t installed dense enough. Once the joints open up, pavers start shifting against each other, and shifting pavers escalate into cracked edges and chips.
- Gap opening between the driveway and the structure. If the pavers are pulling away from the unit’s foundation edge, the entire field is drifting. This is common on sloped lots in Austin and usually means the edge restraint failed on the downhill side.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a full Mighty Buildings driveway and paver replacement in Austin, plan on $7,000 to $18,000 installed. A standard two-car apron replacement with matching pavers and a new compacted base typically lands between $8,000 and $12,000. The range depends on three things: square footage, how much of the old base has to be excavated and hauled off, and whether we’re matching an existing drainage channel. Every quote from us is a written line-item price delivered before any work starts, and it includes demolition, base prep, installation, joint sand, and haul-away. If we quote $11,400, you pay $11,400. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the work for a full year from the completion date, and if a paver settles or a section shifts within that year, we come back and fix it at no charge.
If you only need a paver patio addition or partial driveway replacement, those prices run lower. Tell me what’s wrong with it. We’ll figure out what it actually needs.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check the slope with a 4-foot level and mark where water pools after a rain, but that’s where a homeowner’s involvement should end. Pulling up pavers without addressing the base just rearranges the problem. A full replacement requires excavating to the proper depth, compacting the subgrade, laying and compacting base material, and setting the edge restraint correctly. The physical risk is real: a stack of pavers weights between 40 and 80 pounds each, and moving a full driveway worth of material by hand is how backs get thrown out and toes get crushed. FAQs

A properly installed paver driveway in Austin lasts 25 to 30 years before the base needs rebuilding, though you may need to re-sand joints every 5 to 7 years. Austin’s clay soil and the wet-dry cycle of our spring and fall rains shorten the lifespan compared to areas with stable sandy soil. If you’re seeing failures in under 10 years, the original base was likely underbuilt or the drainage was never right in the first place.
An individual cracked paver can be swapped out in about an hour, and we do that often. The caveat is that a single swap only makes sense if the surrounding pavers and base are still solid. If a paver cracked because the base underneath it failed, a new paver will crack too. Call us at (903) 623-1966 and we’ll tell you which situation you have.
A standard two-car Mighty Buildings driveway replacement in Austin takes 2 to 3 days from demolition to finished surface. That includes excavation, base prep, compaction, paver installation, and joint sand. Weather can stretch that, and spring rains in Austin have a way of testing everyone’s patience, but we don’t leave the job until the pavers are set and the site is clean.
We stock common 60mm and 50mm pavers in the standard Mighty Buildings color range and can usually start a replacement without waiting for a special order. If your unit has a less common color or the drainage channel system, we order the matching materials and schedule the start once they arrive. Either way, you’ll know the start date and the written price before any work begins.
