Jerith Fence Installation: The Austin Owner’s Guide

Jerith fence installation in Austin typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a full residential install, and most jobs are completed in two to four days once materials are on site. We stock Jerith-compatible hardware and sections on our trucks, which means a failed gate or damaged panel usually gets diagnosed and fixed on the first visit. Most Austin homeowners call us after a storm or a mower accident leaves a section leaning, a gate dragging, or a post snapped off at the base. The good news is that Jerith aluminum fence systems are among the more straightforward products to repair, and we’ve handled enough of them across Mueller, Hyde Park, and the surrounding neighborhoods to know exactly what you’re looking at.

Which Jerith Models This Applies To

Jerith makes aluminum residential and commercial fence lines in three main series: the Estate, the Premier, and the Vinyl Insert series. The Estate line uses 2-inch posts with a thicker wall, while the Premier series steps down to 1.5-inch posts and lighter rails. Both use a screw-anchored picket system where individual pickets can be removed and replaced without dismantling the entire panel – that’s a design difference that matters if you’ve only got one or two bent pickets from a falling limb. To identify what you have, look for a small Jerith label sticker near the bottom of a gate post or on the underside of a top rail. If the sticker’s gone, measure the post diameter and the gap between pickets. Common Austin stock is 4-foot and 5-foot high panels with 3-rail construction, but we’ve seen everything from 3-foot pool fences to 6-foot privacy versions. For parts, genuine Jerith components cost 20 to 40 percent more than aftermarket equivalents, and for most residential jobs the aftermarket aluminum hardware holds up comparably in Texas sun and soil. Where we insist on OEM is gate hardware – hinges and latches take the most abuse, and Jerith’s tolerances are tighter than most generic aluminum hardware you’ll find at a big-box store.

Signs Your Jerith Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Gates that drag or won’t latch – Austin’s clay-heavy soil expands and contracts with moisture, which slowly shifts post footings. The gate’s hinge-side post tilts just enough that the latch no longer lines up. Tightening hardware usually buys you months, not years, if the post footer was poured too shallow.
  • Wobbly posts with cracked concrete at the base – the freeze-thaw cycle in Austin winters is mild but not absent. Surface water pools at post bases after heavy rain, and when temperatures dip, micro-expansion cracks the concrete crown. Once water gets into the crease, rust starts on steel post inserts even though the aluminum body is immune.
  • Bent or bowed top rails – limb falls and kids climbing the fence bend the rail until pickets pop out of their channels. Aluminum doesn’t rust, but it doesn’t spring back either. Once a rail is bowed more than about 3 inches, it usually can’t be straightened without weakening the metal.
  • Faded chalky powder coat with bare aluminum showing – 10-plus years of direct Texas UV exposure degrades the finish. The fence is structurally fine, but the bare spots need re-coating or they’ll pit over time. This is the moment to decide between spot repair and full replacement.
  • Sections leaning together like dominoes – this one means at least three adjacent post footers have failed. We see it on properties where irrigation lines run close to the fence line. Constant moisture keeps the soil soft, and even a properly poured footer shifts.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Full Jerith fence installation in Austin lands between $3,500 and $9,000, with the spread driven by linear footage, gate count, and whether we’re working with existing concrete to core or digging fresh footers in soil. At the low end, you’re looking at roughly 80 to 100 linear feet of 4-foot Premier series with a single walk gate. At the high end, 150 or more linear feet of 6-foot Estate with a double driveway gate and custom cuts. Every quote we give includes the parts, labor, concrete, post caps, gate hardware in aluminum or steel, and haul-off of the old fence. We write the price before work starts and it doesn’t change unless you add scope. Our workmanship warranty runs 365 days from completion – if something fails, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s written, not implied.

DIY or Call Us?

Aluminum fence repair is less dangerous than steel or wood – there’s no high-tension component to worry about – but the two places homeowners get hurt are post removal and concrete mixing. Pulling a failed post with a jack and chain can go wrong fast if the anchor point slips, and mixing and hauling 80-pound bags of concrete in an Austin August will take more out of you than the fence. What any homeowner can safely check: whether the gate hinge screws are stripping, whether picket screws have backed out, and whether the latch still catches. If you’ve confirmed the post itself is loose in the ground, that’s a footer issue, and fixing it right means digging below the frost line and re-setting concrete – usually a half-day job for a crew with the right tools. Tell me what’s wrong with it. We’ll figure out what it actually needs. Call (903) 623-1966 if you want a set of eyes on it before you commit.
