ViewLux Kitchen Remodeling: The Austin Owner’s Guide
If you have a ViewLux kitchen and something’s failed, here’s the short version: Mason Remodeling Co Austin works on ViewLux kitchens across Austin, and a full ViewLux kitchen remodel typically runs $14,000 to $45,000 depending on scope, materials, and how much of the existing layout we’re keeping. Most Austin homeowners discover a problem the same way: a drawer front loosens, a soft-close hinge stops catching, or a cabinet face starts separating at the seam after a few Texas summers. Tell me what’s wrong with it. We’ll figure out what it actually needs.
Which ViewLux Models This Applies To

ViewLux cabinetry and kitchen components show up in a lot of Austin homes, but not all ViewLux lines use interchangeable hardware. The two series we see most often in Austin are the ViewLux Premier line, which uses full-extension soft-close drawer glides and 35mm European-style cup hinges, and the ViewLux Essentials line, which uses a lighter-weight 26mm hinge and standard roller glides. That 9mm difference matters. A Premier hinge won’t mount cleanly on an Essentials door, and vice versa. If you look inside the cabinet door, ViewLux stamps a two-letter series code (PR for Premier, ES for Essentials) on the hinge plate or the upper corner of the cabinet box. If you don’t see it, measure the hinge cup diameter with a coin: a nickel is 21mm, a quarter is 24mm, and the 35mm cup is noticeably larger than a quarter. That tells us which hardware family you’re in before we even schedule the visit.
On OEM versus aftermarket: ViewLux OEM hinges and glides are fine, but they’re priced like OEM parts. For Premier-series kitchens, we usually recommend Blum or Salice aftermarket hinges, which are the same 35mm profile with a heavier spring and a longer lifespan in Austin’s heat-and-humidity cycle. For drawer boxes that have failed, we can rebuild to the exact ViewLux opening dimensions. The only place we insist on OEM is drawer-front profiles and door styles: matching a specific ViewLux shaker profile or slab edge with an aftermarket piece never looks right.

Signs Your ViewLux Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Soft-close doors slam or don’t fully close. The damper inside the hinge has worn out, which is common after 8-12 years in Austin’s heat. The hinge still works, but the soft-close mechanism is shot.
- Drawer front has dropped or sits crooked. The mounting screws on the drawer box face have stripped out of the particleboard, usually because the original installation used the wrong screw length.
- Cabinet face frames are separating at the corner joints. Austin summers swing indoor humidity hard. If the house doesn’t hold consistent humidity, ViewLux’s MDF-core frames can expand and contract enough to crack the joint.
- The cabinet box has swelled near the sink base or dishwasher opening. That’s water intrusion, almost always from a failed sink seal or a dishwasher venting into the cabinet. The box needs to be dried, assessed, and usually rebuilt or replaced before mold sets in.
- Hinges feel gritty or bind when opening. The internal cam has corroded or the hinge pin has worn, and the door is riding unevenly against the frame. Might be repairable; might need a hinge swap. We’ll tell you which.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
A full ViewLux kitchen remodel in Austin runs $14,000 to $45,000. A smaller kitchen with stock Premier cabinets and basic countertops lands around $14,000-$20,000. A larger kitchen with custom cabinet modifications, a new island, Cambria or Silestone countertops, and a full tile backsplash runs $35,000-$45,000. If you’re only dealing with cabinet hardware failure, not a full remodel, we can often replace hinges, glides, and drawer boxes without touching the cabinet boxes, which is a lot less money. Every quote is a written price before we start. No change orders appear on the back end. Our workmanship warranty runs 365 days from completion, and if something isn’t right in that window, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
Some of this is genuinely easy. If a single hinge has failed and you’ve confirmed it’s a standard 35mm cup, you can order a replacement and swap it with a Phillips screwdriver in ten minutes. The danger zone starts when drawer boxes are separating or the cabinet box itself has water damage. A failed drawer box under a heavy pot-and-pan load can drop suddenly, and a swollen cabinet box near a sink often means the cabinet is no longer supporting the countertop the way it should. That’s not a weekend fix. If you’re not sure which situation you’re in, call (903) 623-1966 and describe what you’re seeing. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a $40 hinge or a cabinet rebuild.
FAQs

Realistically, ViewLux cabinets in the Austin market last 12-20 years, with hinges and soft-close mechanisms being the first things to fail, usually around year 8-10. The cabinet boxes themselves hold up well if the kitchen stays dry and the home’s humidity is reasonably controlled. Call (903) 623-1966 and we can assess where your kitchen is in that lifecycle.
Yes, in most cases. Hinges, drawer glides, drawer boxes, and even face frames can be repaired or rebuilt without removing the cabinet boxes. We only recommend full replacement when the boxes are water-damaged, structurally compromised, or when you want a different layout. If you’re not sure, call us and describe the problem, and we’ll give you a straight answer.
Most ViewLux kitchen remodels take 3-6 weeks depending on scope, material lead times from KraftMaid or Cambria, and whether we’re doing structural work like removing a wall to open the space. A hardware-only repair is same-day or next-day. We give a written schedule with the quote, and we stick to it.
We keep the most common ViewLux hinge sizes, soft-close dampers, and drawer glides on the truck, from 35mm Premier-series cup hinges to standard roller glides for the Essentials line. We also carry aftermarket Blum and Salice equivalents. If you call, we’ll tell you right then if we have what your kitchen needs or if we need a day to bring it in.
