Cambria Bathroom Remodeling: The Austin Owner’s Guide
Cambria bathroom remodeling in Austin typically runs $9,000 to $28,000 installed, depending on surface area, fixture upgrades, and whether we’re working with existing plumbing or moving it. Most Cambria work we quote involves replacing a failed or dated vanity top, shower surround, or full wet-wall surface, and we can usually start within two weeks of your written estimate. What brings homeowners to us most often is a Cambria top that’s chipped at the edge, a seam that’s opened up after Austin’s summer heat cycles, or a shower surround that’s started pulling away from the wall at the silicone line.
Which Cambria Models This Applies To

This work applies to every Cambria quartz surface line currently in service in Austin homes, from the Design palette (think Brittanicca, Torquay, and Swanbridge) to the Marble and Coastal collections. The compatibility question is not really about the color series. It’s about thickness and edge profile. Cambria runs two standard thicknesses: 1cm and 2cm. The 2cm is the workhorse for bathroom vanities and shower surrounds in our market, and that’s what we stock and fabricate around most often. If your existing piece is 3cm, that’s almost always a kitchen carryover, and we will tell you before you spend anything that you may not need the heavier slab for a bathroom vanity. It matters because thicker material changes drawer clearance, faucet reach, and what your existing cabinet boxes can carry without sagging. When you call, have a photo of the underside label if you can find one. Cambria engraves a small serial and color code on the back of every slab before shipping, and that number tells us exactly what to match without guesswork.
One note from the field: we are an independent installer in Austin, not a Cambria corporate showroom. That means we can quote you an honest installed price without a brand markup layered on top, and we are free to recommend a quality aftermarket edge profile or drain assembly when it genuinely costs less and performs the same. For the slab itself, there is no legitimate aftermarket “Cambria-compatible” quartz. Cambria is a proprietary surface. What we do stock is a deep line of compatible sinks, mounting hardware, faucet escutcheons, and shower trim kits across Kohler, Moen, and Toto that pair cleanly with any Cambria color line.

Signs Your Cambria Bathroom Surface Is Failing
- Hairline cracks radiating from the faucet holes or drain cutout. This is the most common Cambria failure we see in Austin, and it’s almost always installation-related: the fabricator over-tightened the faucet or the cutout was drilled without a proper radius at the corners. Once a crack starts, water finds it, and the repair is rarely invisible.
- A seam that has opened to a visible dark line. Quartz expands and contracts with temperature, and Austin’s uninsulated bathroom exterior walls make this worse. If your vanity top seam has become a visible groove, the adhesive has failed and moisture is working into the joint every time you wipe the counter.
- Chipped front edge with a raw, white appearance. Cambria’s polished surface is durable, but a dropped hair dryer or ceramic soap dish can take a bite out of the front profile. If the chip is shallow, we can often polish it out. If you can feel the aggregate below the surface, that’s a replacement-level defect.
- Silicone pulling away from the wall at the vanity backsplash or shower surround. This is the earliest warning sign of movement behind the slab. In Austin’s clay-heavy soil, houses shift seasonally, and a rigid quartz panel does not flex. Pulling silicone usually means the wall behind the slab has moved and the panel is now leveraging against its own anchors.
- Dull, etched-looking spots that will not polish out. Cambria is non-porous and does not etch like marble, but harsh alkaline cleaners and years of hard-water mineral buildup in Austin can leave a hazy film that looks like a defect. The good news is this is almost always a cleaning and polishing fix, not a new top. We can tell the difference in about five minutes on a video call.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a Cambria bathroom remodel in Austin, here is how the money typically breaks out. Every quote from us comes as a written line item before any work starts, and once that price is signed, it does not change unless you change the scope.
- Vanity top replacement (single sink, standard 48″ to 72″ run): $3,200 to $7,800 installed, including slab, fabrication, sink cutout, faucet reinstall, and disposal of the old top.
- Shower surround in Cambria (standard 60″ alcove, three walls): $4,800 to $12,500 installed, including waterproofing behind the slab, plumbing trim-out for a new valve, and a written leak-free warranty.
- Full bathroom remodel with Cambria surfaces (new top, surround, flooring, vanity, fixtures): $9,000 to $28,000 installed. The spread is driven by whether we’re keeping the existing tub or converting to a walk-in shower, whether plumbing is staying put or moving, and how much tile work we’re doing alongside the quartz.
Every Austin job we do includes the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing: if anything we installed is not right within a year of completion, we return and make it right at no cost to you. That covers the fabrication, the seam, the silicone work, and the plumbing connections we made. It is stated plainly in your contract, with exclusions listed, and there is no dispute process to fight through. You call, we show up.
DIY or Call Us?
Here is the honest split. You can safely diagnose most of this yourself: take a photo of the label under your Cambria slab, measure your vanity width in inches, and check whether the seam line is soft or hard when you press a fingernail into it. That information saves you a trip charge and narrows the quote before we ever step inside.
What you should not do is attempt to remove a cracked Cambria top or re-secure a shower surround panel yourself. A 72-inch by 22-inch quartz vanity panel weighs upward of 180 pounds. It will damage cabinetry, tile, and fingers on the way out if it is not handled by two people who do it weekly. Shower surrounds are worse: the panel is bearing on a waterproofing membrane, and prying it loose without cutting the silicone bead correctly will tear the membrane and turn a $5,000 surface job into a $12,000 wall rebuild. Let a professional carry the stone. Tell me what’s wrong with it. We’ll figure out what it actually needs. Call (903) 623-1966 and we will walk you through the failure symptoms and what a repair versus a replacement really costs.
FAQs

A properly installed Cambria vanity top or shower surround should last 20 to 30 years in an Austin bathroom, and the surface itself will never delaminate or absorb stains. What usually ends the lifespan is not the material: it is a plumbing leak behind the wall, a settling foundation that shifts the cabinet, or an installation error that left a stress point at a cutout. In our experience, Austin’s expansive clay soil shortens the practical lifespan of a quartz shower surround by about a third compared to a slab-on-grade home because the walls move seasonally and the rigid panel cannot follow. If your surround was installed before 2015 and you are seeing silicone separation, call (903) 623-1966 and we will do a free failure assessment before anyone touches a tool.
Sometimes, but not always. A shallow edge chip can often be polished out to near-invisible. A hairline crack near the faucet holes cannot be reliably repaired, because the stress that caused it is still there and the repair adhesive will fail again within a year. We will tell you which one you have before we quote anything. If a repair is possible, it runs $350 to $900 in Austin. If it is not, we will tell you that too, and we will not sell you a repair we would not put in our own house.
A vanity top replacement is a one-day job in most Austin homes: remove the old top, dry-fit the new slab, set it, reconnect the faucet and drain, and silicone the backsplash. A full Cambria shower surround is a four-to-seven-day project because the waterproofing membrane under the slab needs cure time between coats, and the panel fabrication has a lead time of seven to fourteen days from template to install. A complete bathroom remodel with Cambria surfaces runs two to four weeks depending on plumbing scope and tile work. We will give you a written schedule and stick to it, and if we miss a day for our own reasons, we will tell you why and adjust the finish date in writing at no cost to you.
We stock a working inventory of the most-requested Cambria colors in 2cm thickness at our Austin fabrication partner, and we can order any current Cambria design with a one-to-two-week lead time. What we always have on hand is the hardware side: sink clips, faucet mounting plates, drain assemblies, and Schluter shower waterproofing strips. For a job you want started inside two weeks, tell us the color name, and we will confirm stock before you commit to a deposit. No surprise lead times, no “the slab is delayed” phone calls after you have already paid.
